چکیده

The prior particle boundaries (PPBs), as one of the typical defects in nickel-based powder metallurgy superalloy, largely affect microstructure and thus properties/performance alloys. However, effect PPBs on evolution superalloy during heat treatment is still unclear. In this paper, a comparative study their influence grain growth solution novel FGH4113A (i.e., WZ-A3 from Shenzhen Wedge, China) with/without hot extrusion (HEX) was conducted. Firstly, through combination scanning electron microscope (SEM), probe microanalyzer (EPMA) transmission (TEM) techniques, alloys were characterized to be Al2O3, carbides (TiC, M6C, M23C6) large-size γ′ particles. After HEX, oxides broke, deformed, phase redistributed. at 950 °C, TiC decomposed M6C M23C6, while no such decomposition occurred after treated 1050 °C 1150 °C. Secondly, size analyzed using backscattered diffraction (EBSD) technique. At carbide resulted increase enhancement pinning boundaries, inhibiting growth. nucleation rate due recrystallization comparable rate, leading stable distribution size. While higher temperature can induce content PPBs. driving force for surpassed PPBs, making grains quickly coarsen. Finally, it concluded that HEX process an effective method modify HIP heavily refine superalloys. Furthermore, based present experiment analysis, appropriate mechanism 2 h) proposed

On APFIM of Grain Boundaries in a Nickel Base Superalloy

Experimental details of atom probe field ion microscopy (APFIM) of a Ni-16Cr-9Fe alloy are presented. In particular, studies concerning analysis of intergranular carbides and borides and segregation to grain boundaries are described. It was found that NiZ3B6 precipitates are very sensitive to preferential field evaporation, which necessitates optimization of the analysis conditions. In the FIM ...

Effects of Temperature and Pressure of Hot Isostatic Pressing on the Grain Structure of Powder Metallurgy Superalloy

The microstructure with homogeneously distributed grains and less prior particle boundary (PPB) precipitates is always desired for powder metallurgy superalloys after hot isostatic pressing (HIPping). In this work, we studied the effects of HIPping parameters, temperature and pressure on the grain structure in PM superalloy FGH96, by means of scanning electron microscope (SEM), electron backsca...

Strain Amount Dependent Grain Size and Orientation Developments during Hot Compression of a Polycrystalline Nickel Based Superalloy

Controlling grain size in polycrystalline nickel base superalloy is vital for obtaining required mechanical properties. Typically, a uniform and fine grain size is required throughout forging process to realize the superplastic deformation. Strain amount occupied a dominant position in manipulating the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) process and regulating the grain size of the alloy during hot...
